Charlie Howard Memorial Service with Rev. Greg Bridges-Music – Service on Demand 07-07-2024
"Something Wrong with the Village"
July 7, 2024
Service Description:
Join us for our annual Charlie Howard service. This year, we welcome Rev. Greg Bridges-Music. 2024 is the 40th anniversary of Charlie Howard’s murder. When it happened, three young men were identified as the culprits, but their actions were the product of society at the time. Many people even supported the three men, as others mourned Charlie’s death.
In the last 40 years, we have come far from that society that supported the murder of a young gay man. LGBTQIA+ rights have progressed and you can see society celebrating and supporting our LGBTQIA+ communities with signs, bumper stickers, flags, pins, and more. But, we have to keep pushing forward, so we don’t backslide to a point where the murder of any member of a marginalized community would be celebrated.
