~ Labor Day: the Ongoing Struggle for Worker Justice ~ On Sunday, September 4^th, Valerie Carter will explore how and why UU’s are supporting justice for working people, as we honor and celebrate Labor Day. We will be discussing some of the ongoing and historical challenges and hardships facing working people, the role of unions and the labor movement in giving workers a collective voice, and the significance of the labor movement’s motto of “Solidarity”. We’ll also look at recent struggles to unionize over the past couple years, including in Maine. Our guest speaker this week is Valerie Carter with Laurie Cartier, Sue McKay, John Arimond for music and Atticus Foster, our new AVS Tech.
