Worship Service – July 2, 2023

Join Our UUSB Worship Experience

~ Reframing 4th of July: In(ter)dependence Day ~

Come join us this Sunday, July 2nd, to reflect on our annual celebration of the Fourth of July and Independence Day. How can we reframe this tradition full of patriotic spirit of the past to more fully acknowledge the realities of the present and vision of our future? How critical is it now to consider how we are, in truth,  INTER dependent? Phyllis Havens will be our Worship leader, with the music of John Arimond, in exploring these reflections and diverse perspectives on interdependence and beloved community.

This service will be led by Phyllis Havens and John Arimond with Laurie Cartier, Francis Grey, and Atticus Foster as our worship team. Music will be provided by John Arimond.

Join the Zoom Meeting with meeting code 954 5859 6196 and passcode 685217.

For those attending in person: Please be aware that we are sending a live feed to Zoom every Sunday. If you do not want to be in this live feed, please avoid the center of the sanctuary so you are not in view of the camera. After the service, we edit the recording to eliminate the Candles of Joys and Concerns and then we are posting the service to our Website. Please contact Laurie Cartier if you have any questions about our procedures.

This month, half of the undesignated funds in our plate collection will go to support Health Equity Alliance (HEAL). Their mission is to create a world in which all people are valued and celebrated and health disparities such as HIV, Hepatitis C, and AIDS-related deaths are nonexistent. They facilitate collaboration, education, advocacy, and action for marginalized communities to improve their health and well-being and affect social and cultural change.

For more information, visit https://www.mainehealthequity.org/ or call (207) 990-3626.

In June, we shared our plate with the UUSB Food Security Programs.
