~ Knowing How to Pay Attention ~
The poet Mary Oliver writes in “Summer Day,” “I don’t know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention….” Poets and artists call our attention to the natural world and human community in new ways, and this call to pay attention is also common to many spiritual and religious traditions. Exploring some of those traditions and practices this Sunday, we’ll dig deeper into the meaning and purpose of attention to daily life, and how it transforms us.
This week’s service will be lead by Rev. Rebecca Liberty with Sue McKay, Laurie Cartier, and LyAnn Grogan. Music will be provided by Robin Wood.
Join the Zoom Meeting with meeting code 939 7277 3602 and passcode 085993.
For those attending in person: Please be aware that we are sending a live feed to Zoom every Sunday. If you do not want to be in this live feed, please avoid the center of the sanctuary so you are not in view of the camera. After the service, we edit the recording to eliminate the Candles of Joys and Concerns and then we are posting the service to our Website. Please contact Laurie Cartier if you have any questions about our procedures.

This month, half of the undesignated funds in our plate collection will go to support Health Equity Alliance (HEAL). Their mission is to create a world in which all people are valued and celebrated and health disparities such as HIV, Hepatitis C, and AIDS-related deaths are nonexistent. They facilitate collaboration, education, advocacy, and action for marginalized communities to improve their health and well-being and affect social and cultural change.

In June, we shared our plate with the UUSB Food Security Programs.
