Ringing Bells & Feeding Souls – July 2020
12:00 PM - 01:00 PM120 Park St, Bangor
On Sunday, July 12th at 12pm, the Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor will have an open air chimes concert and our monthly food collection, which takes place on the second Sunday each month.
This month’s schedule is slightly different, due to the Charlie Howard Memorial Walk at 11:30. Community members will meet at UUSB for the walk. At 12:00, there will be bins on the sidewalk for food collection. And, at 12:30, John Arimond will begin the chimes concert, playing until our usual end time of 1:00.
One of only 6 genuine tower bell instruments in Maine, and the only “real” chime in Bangor (installed 1919), the 11- bell, Meneely “C Chime” instrument will be played.
We welcome all within our community to step outside and take a listen. You are welcome to enjoy from the church lawn and surrounding areas, but please be absolutely certain to observe social distancing practices of at least 6-feet.
Between 12 pm and 1 pm there will also be bins spaced out and placed on the sidewalk in front of the church for people to drive by and make a contribution of food as part of our UUSB second Sunday food collection. Last month, we collected 364 lbs. of food! Please drop off non-perishable items to be contributed to the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Bangor.
In these trying and uncertain times, what a gift it is to be able to experience a sense of unity and celebration through music in times of isolation.
