Easter Bells & Feeding Souls

12:00 PM - 01:00 PM120 Park St, Bangor
On Easter Sunday, April 12 th at 12pm, The Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor will join with churches from all over America in the “ringing of the bells”! Lead by The National Council of Churches, the interfaith partnership will join various churches of many denominations throughout the United States in a signaling of unity and celebration. One of only 6 genuine tower bell instruments in Maine, and the only “real” chime in Bangor (installed 1919), the 11- bell, Meneely “C Chime” instrument will be played on Easter Sunday by John Arimond. We welcome all within our community to step outside and take a listen. You are welcome to enjoy from the church lawn and surrounding areas, but please be absolutely certain to observe social distancing practices of at least 6-feet. Between 12 pm and 1 pm there will also be bins spaced out and placed on the sidewalk in front of the church for people to drive by and make a contribution of food as part of our UUSB second Sunday food collection. Please drop off non-perishable items to be contributed to the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Bangor. In these trying and uncertain times, what a gift it is to be able to experience a sense of unity and celebration through music, not only within our direct community, but across the United States as well. UUSB has been a progressive religious voice in Bangor since the 1830s. Our religious heritage is derived from the Unitarian Universalist Traditions, which have strong histories of commitment to justice and compassion. As a faith community, we are focused on spiritual growth and service. We are a welcoming congregation, supporting the inherent worth and dignity of every person.
