Services – September 2025

September 2025

Building Belonging

September 7: “The Consolidation” with Sue McKay

This year, we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Unitarian and Universalist congregations of Bangor merging to create the Unitarian Universalist Society that we so love today. Sue will recount some of the history from this time, remembering how we came together.

This week’s worship team is: Sue McKay, Laurie Cartier, John Arimond, , and Atticus Foster. Music will be provided by Sojourner Crowley.

September 14: “Water Communion” with Rev. Drew & Worship Committee

Please note: Before and after the service we will be collecting food for our Second Sunday food collection to support the Ecumenical Food Cupboard.

Water is the universal substance that supports all life as we know it. In keeping with our UUSB Tradition, we will kick off our new program year with our annual ritual of Water Communion. Everyone attending is encouraged to bring a sample of water from a place they found spiritual connection or wisdom over the summer.

If you wish to contribute your water to our communal bowl, please bring it on Sunday. Alternatively, drop your water sample off in a designated bucket outside the Dorothy Memorial entrance. The drop-off period is between Friday, September 12, and noon on Saturday, September 13. Please include a note with your water sample, which will be read during the Sunday service.

This week’s worship team is: Rev. Drew Moeller, Phyllis Havens, Worship Committee Members, and Atticus Foster. Music will be provided by Sojourner Crowley and the UUSB Choir.

September 21: “Where There Is Welcome, Is There Belonging?” with Rev. Drew Moeller

As a congregation, we strive to be a place where all are welcome, but is that the same as being a place where people feel they belong? This service will explore the difference between welcoming and belonging.

This week’s worship team is: Rev. Drew Moeller, John Arimond, and Atticus Foster. Music will be provided by Sojourner Crowley and the UUSB Choir.

September 28: “Keeping Connected” with Rev. Drew Moeller

We often see and hear people talking about having a deep sense of belonging to a group, Spirit, Nature, or God. The question is, what does it take to maintain that connection? Is something that happens automatically, or is there something it is required of us to keep that connection alive, vibrant, and engaging?

This week’s worship team is: Rev. Drew Moeller, Laurie Cartier, Sue McKay, and Hannah Wunderli.
